Privacy Policy

Last Updated: February 20, 2026

Your Privacy Comes First

Lucen does not permanently store your conversation data. Your chats are processed temporarily to generate insights, you can delete them anytime, and we automatically remove inactive conversations after 3 months.

Our Promise

Privacy is woven into every part of how Lucen operates. From the earliest stages of development to every feature we ship, your personal data is handled with the care and respect it deserves. The confidence you place in us matters deeply, and we hold ourselves accountable to it every day.

Every product decision we make goes through a privacy lens. We refuse to cut corners when it comes to safeguarding your information, and we ensure that protecting you is never an afterthought.

Openness guides how we handle your data. This Privacy Policy is written in straightforward, everyday language — free of confusing legalese — because we genuinely want you to read it and feel confident about how your information is managed.

Protecting what you share with us is an ongoing effort, not a one-time checkbox. We continually invest in and refine our security infrastructure to keep pace with new challenges and ensure your data stays protected.

Introduction

We're glad you're here. This document (our "Policy") lays out the types of information we handle, the reasons behind it, and the controls available to you. We recommend reading it alongside our Terms and Conditions of Use.

By accessing or using Lucen, you acknowledge and accept the data practices outlined in this Policy. We leverage the information we gather solely to operate, maintain, and enhance the App. Your data will never be disclosed to outside parties except as specifically outlined below.

Important: Lucen is operated from the United States. Regardless of where you are located, any information you provide will be transferred to and processed within the United States.

Scope of This Policy

This Policy covers the Lucen mobile application ("App"), our website, and any related digital offerings. Throughout this document, we use the term "services" to refer to all of the above collectively. Where a particular product carries its own separate privacy notice, that notice takes precedence over this one.

Information We Collect

Information You Provide Directly

Creating an account ("Account") on Lucen involves sharing certain details with us. The categories of information we may collect include:

  • Name (optional, from authentication provider)
  • Email address (for account management and communications)
  • Authentication provider information (Google, Apple, or anonymous authentication)
  • Chat history from WhatsApp, iMessage, or other messaging platforms (only when you explicitly upload screenshots or export files)
  • Conversation transcripts (extracted from uploaded screenshots or videos)
  • User-provided context including: Relationship status, Names of people in conversations, Analysis type and goals, User struggles and concerns
  • Analysis results (AI-generated insights about your conversations)

This information powers the core functionality of Lucen — from generating relationship insights to verifying account ownership. When you interact with our AI features, upload conversation screenshots, or chat within the App, that data is processed to deliver the analysis you requested.

Nothing is collected without a clear action on your part. Whether you are uploading a file, tapping a button, or filling in a form field, each step is designed to make your consent explicit. We will never silently harvest your data.

Information From Third Parties

Occasionally, we learn about you through sources other than your own input:

From Other Users: If someone contacts us about an issue involving you, we may receive information about you in the course of that communication.

Information From Authentication Providers

When you log in via Google or Apple, we receive basic profile details (such as name and email) that you have permitted them to share with us. This data is used exclusively for setting up and managing your account.

Device and Activity Data

To keep Lucen running smoothly, we automatically collect certain technical signals from your device, such as:

  • User identifier
  • Device model
  • Operating system
  • App version
  • Push notification tokens (FCM tokens for iOS and Android)
  • IP address

We also record how you interact with our services, including:

  • Session details such as login timestamps, screens visited, taps, and the page that referred you to us
  • AI usage patterns (e.g., analyses requested, insights viewed, chat interactions)
  • Crash reports and diagnostic logs that help us identify and resolve bugs

When the App encounters an unexpected error, diagnostic information — commonly referred to as "Log Data" — may be generated. This can include your IP address, device identifiers, OS version, App configuration at the time of the error, and relevant timestamps.

Payment and Subscription Data

If you make purchases within the app, we collect:

  • Transaction records (from Stripe for web payments or RevenueCat/Apple for iOS payments)
  • Subscription status and details
  • Payment method information (processed securely by payment providers, not stored by us)
  • Purchase history

How We Use Your Information

Everything we collect is put to work for one purpose: giving you a great experience on Lucen. Specifically, we use your information to:

  • Deliver, operate, and improve Lucen's features and services
  • Keep you informed about product updates, new capabilities, and relevant announcements
  • Tailor content and recommendations to your unique situation
  • Analyze usage trends so we can build a better product
  • Detect and prevent fraud, abuse, or violations of our Terms of Service
  • Send you push notifications (with your consent)
  • Process payments and manage subscriptions

How AI Powers Lucen

Lucen relies on artificial intelligence — including services provided by OpenAI — to turn your uploaded conversations into actionable relationship insights. Below is a breakdown of how this works and what it means for your privacy.

What Our AI Processes

When you upload a conversation or engage with our AI chat, the system reviews the text along with any context you have provided (such as relationship status or specific questions) to generate tailored analysis. If you complete a profile questionnaire, those responses also feed into the AI to sharpen personalization.

No Training on Your Data

CRITICAL: We do NOT use your personal conversations or data to train AI models. Your conversation data is only used to provide analysis directly to you. We do not share your conversation content with third parties for training purposes.

Adaptive Recommendations

Over time, the AI refines its output based on the context you share — learning what matters most to you so it can surface more relevant guidance and analysis.

Safeguarding Your Conversations

Safeguarding your information is central to how we operate. Everything you share during conversations is governed by this Privacy Policy, and we maintain robust technical and organizational measures to prevent unauthorized access, unintended disclosure, or any form of misuse.

De-identified and Aggregate Data

We may strip identifying details from user data and combine it into aggregate datasets for research, analytics, and service improvements. This process is designed so that no individual can be re-identified from the resulting information.

Your Control Over AI Interactions

You decide what you share. You are free to limit the depth of your interactions and the personal details you provide to our AI services at any time. If you ever want your data removed, the "Data Retention & Deletion" section below explains exactly how to make that request.

AI-generated analysis is a tool, not a substitute for professional advice. While we work hard to make insights as accurate and useful as possible, algorithmic output has inherent limits and may not fully reflect the complexity of real-world relationships.

Sensitive Conversation Data

Important Notice: By uploading WhatsApp, iMessage, Instagram, TikTok, or other messaging transcripts, you are sharing conversations that may contain personal information about yourself and others. These conversations are considered sensitive data.

How We Handle Your Conversations

We process this data solely to provide relationship analysis to you. We implement encryption, access controls, and security measures to protect this sensitive data. We do not share individual conversation content with third parties except as necessary to provide our AI analysis services (OpenAI), and they are contractually prohibited from using your data for training purposes.

Third-Party Data in Conversations

When you upload conversations, you may be sharing information about other people (the individuals you're conversing with). By uploading this data, you represent that you have the right to share this information with us for analysis purposes. We process this data only to provide you with analysis and do not use it for any other purpose.

Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have certain rights regarding your personal information:

  • Right to Access: You can request a copy of the personal information we hold about you
  • Right to Rectification: You can request that we correct inaccurate or incomplete information
  • Right to Erasure: You can request deletion of your personal information (subject to legal requirements)
  • Right to Restrict Processing: You can request that we limit how we use your information
  • Right to Data Portability: You can request a copy of your data in a portable format
  • Right to Object: You can object to certain processing of your information

To exercise these rights, please contact us at support@lucen.app.

Security

Keeping your personal data safe is something we take seriously. We apply industry-standard safeguards — including encryption, strict access restrictions, and robust authentication protocols — to defend against unauthorized access, tampering, or loss of your information. That said, no digital system or internet-based transfer can be deemed entirely invulnerable, so while we do everything within our power, we cannot offer an unconditional guarantee of security.

Our security practices are not static. We continuously evaluate and strengthen our protective measures to stay ahead of emerging threats and to keep your data as safe as possible.

Data Retention & Deletion

Immediate Account Deletion

If you decide to stop using our services, you can request account deletion at any time. When you request account deletion, your account and all associated data will be deleted immediately, including:

  • All transcripts and conversation data
  • Chat histories and AI responses
  • User-provided metadata (names, relationship status, etc.)
  • Profile information
  • FCM tokens and notification preferences
  • All analysis results

Automatic Conversation Deletion

All user conversation data (transcripts, uploaded conversations, and related analysis) is automatically deleted after 3 months of inactivity. This ensures that your sensitive conversation data is not retained longer than necessary while allowing you time to revisit your results.

Inactivity means that neither you nor the system has accessed or interacted with that conversation for a continuous 90-day period. Any new interaction resets the inactivity window.

Legal Retention Requirements

Certain records must be kept for legally mandated periods:

  • Transaction records: 10 years (for tax and accounting legal requirements)
  • Access logs: 1 year (as required by legal data retention obligations)
  • Consent records: 5 years (to evidence our compliance with applicable law)

Beyond legal mandates, we may hold a limited set of data for legitimate operational reasons:

  • Records needed to enforce account bans and protect our community — retained only as long as the safety concern persists
  • Data that may be relevant to an active or reasonably anticipated legal matter, including situations where we have received a lawful preservation request or where the information could be required in connection with litigation or regulatory proceedings

Requesting Corrections or Deletion

If any data we hold about you is incorrect, or you would like it erased or its processing restricted, reach out to us at support@lucen.app. We will work with you to resolve the request promptly.

To safeguard everyone involved, we may need to verify your identity before acting on such requests.

Vendors and Service Partners

Running Lucen requires working with a select group of external service providers. We share only the data each partner needs to perform its role, and every partner is contractually bound to keep your information confidential and to use it solely for the services they provide to us.

We never sell your data. No third party — and no Lucen system — uses your personal information for model training.

A cookie is a small text file that a website places on your device to remember preferences or track activity. Lucen's App does not set cookies of its own. Some third-party libraries embedded in the App or on our website may place cookies to support their functionality. You can manage cookie preferences through your browser or device settings; however, disabling cookies may limit certain features.

By using the App, you consent to this transfer. We maintain appropriate safeguards so that your data receives the same level of protection described in this Policy, regardless of where it is processed.

Updates to This Policy

We may modify this Privacy Policy as our product and legal landscape change. The latest version will always be accessible from within the App and on our website. When we make changes that meaningfully affect how your data is handled, we will let you know — for instance through an in-app banner or an email to the address on your Account. Your continued use of Lucen after an update takes effect constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
