Agreement Overview

These Terms and Conditions ("Terms") constitute a legally binding agreement between you and Hot Ice Studio LLC, doing business as Lucen ("we," "us," or "our"). They govern your access to and use of the Lucen mobile application and related services (collectively, the "App"). By downloading, installing, or otherwise using the App, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms in their entirety. If you do not agree, you must not use the App.

Who Can Use Lucen

The App is available to individuals who meet all of the following criteria:

  • You are at least 16 years old.
  • You are not barred from using the App under the laws of your jurisdiction of residence.

Registration requires a valid email address. By registering, you agree to provide accurate information and to keep your credentials confidential. For details on how we handle your personal data, please see our Privacy Policy.

Privacy and Data Protection

Protecting your personal information is central to how we operate. Our Privacy Policy describes the categories of data we collect, why we collect it, and how we store and share it. That policy is incorporated into these Terms by reference.

When you upload conversations to the App, you represent that:

  • Every participant in the conversation has given their consent for its use within the App
  • You are using the App strictly for personal, non-commercial purposes (unless otherwise agreed upon in writing)
  • The uploaded material does not violate any applicable laws or regulations

Conversation data is processed solely to generate your analysis report and is handled in accordance with our Privacy Policy. You may delete any of your conversations at any time. Data associated with inactive conversations is automatically removed after 90 days, except where retention is required for service delivery or legal compliance.

Payment, Subscriptions & Billing

Certain features of the App are available only through paid subscriptions or one-time purchases ("In-App Purchases"). Additional terms disclosed at the point of sale form part of these Terms.

Auto-Renewal

Paid subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing cycle at the then-current rate unless you cancel before the renewal date. Deleting the App or your account does not cancel an active subscription. If we change subscription pricing, we will notify you in advance and give you an opportunity to cancel.

How to Cancel

You may cancel your subscription at any time. Cancellation is straightforward and can be completed in under one minute:

  • Web / Stripe: Open the Lucen billing portal and sign in with your email to cancel or update your plan. Alternatively, open the App and navigate to Settings → Manage Subscription.
  • iOS (Apple): Open the App Store, tap your profile icon, tap Subscriptions, and cancel from there. Learn more about managing Apple subscriptions here.

After cancellation, you retain access to paid features until the end of your current billing period. No prorated refunds are issued for unused time within a billing cycle.

Payment Processing

On iOS, transactions are processed by Apple through your Apple ID. On the web, payments are handled by Stripe. We do not store full payment card details. We may receive limited transaction metadata (e.g., product identifier, country, currency, purchase and expiration dates) for the purposes of entitlement verification, fraud prevention, and customer support.

Free Trials & Automatic Conversion to Paid Subscription

We may offer free trial periods for certain subscription plans. By starting a free trial, you expressly acknowledge and agree to the following:

  • Payment method required: A valid payment method is collected at the time of trial enrollment. No charge is made during the trial period.
  • Automatic conversion: Unless you cancel before the trial period ends, your trial will automatically convert to a paid subscription at the price displayed during signup. Your payment method will be charged immediately upon trial expiration.
  • Trial duration: The length of the trial period is displayed clearly on the signup screen before you confirm enrollment.
  • Notification: We send a reminder notification before your trial ends. However, it is your sole responsibility to cancel before the trial period expires if you do not wish to be charged.
  • Deleting the App does not cancel: Uninstalling the App, closing your account, or simply not using the service does not cancel your trial or prevent automatic conversion to a paid subscription. You must explicitly cancel through the methods described above.
  • One trial per user: Free trials are limited to one per person, per payment method, and per device. We reserve the right to revoke trial access or charge the standard rate if we detect abuse or duplicate trial enrollments.

By enrolling in a free trial, you authorize us to charge your payment method at the end of the trial period and on each subsequent renewal date until you cancel.

Refund Policy

All subscription charges — including charges resulting from trial-to-paid conversions — are final and non-refundable unless otherwise required by applicable law. No credits or refunds are provided for partial billing periods, unused features, or failure to cancel before a trial ends.

You agreed to this no-refund policy at the time of purchase or trial enrollment. By providing your payment information and completing checkout, you acknowledged that your subscription would automatically renew and that charges are non-refundable.

Dispute and chargeback policy: If you believe a charge is unauthorized, please contact us at support@lucen.app before initiating a chargeback or dispute with your bank or payment provider. We actively contest all chargebacks that we believe to be invalid, and we submit transaction records, usage logs, trial enrollment confirmations, and other evidence to demonstrate that the charge was authorized. Filing a fraudulent chargeback may result in immediate account termination and potential referral to collections.

Requesting a refund: While our policy is no-refunds, if you believe you have been charged in error or have exceptional circumstances, contact us at support@lucen.app within 7 days of the charge. We will review your case and may, at our sole discretion, issue a refund or credit.

Cancellation assistance: If you contact us at support@lucen.app before your next billing date, we will cancel your subscription and ensure you are not charged for any future billing cycles from that point forward. If a technical issue within our platform prevents you from canceling through the normal self-service process, contact us and we will process the cancellation promptly and ensure no further charges occur.

For purchases made via Apple, refund requests must be directed to Apple through the App Store ("Purchase History" → "Report a Problem") or at https://getsupport.apple.com. For Google Play purchases, visit Google Play Support.

Your Use of the App

Acknowledgment of Billing Terms. By creating an account and enrolling in any subscription or trial, you confirm that you have read and understood the billing terms above, including the automatic conversion of free trials to paid subscriptions, the auto-renewal of all paid subscriptions, and the no-refund policy. You further confirm that you provide your payment information voluntarily and authorize recurring charges as described herein.

All intellectual property in and related to the App — including trademarks, copyrights, and database rights — is owned exclusively by Hot Ice Studio LLC. You may not reverse-engineer, decompile, disassemble, or otherwise attempt to derive the source code of the App. Creating derivative works, translations, or unauthorized copies of any part of the App is strictly prohibited.

We continuously work to improve the App and may introduce new features, modify existing ones, or begin charging for certain capabilities at our discretion. The App requires an active internet connection for many of its features; we are not responsible for reduced functionality caused by connectivity issues on your end, including exhausted mobile data or lack of Wi-Fi access.

Your mobile carrier's standard rates for data usage apply when you access the App over a cellular network, including any roaming charges incurred outside your home region. You are responsible for all such charges. If someone else pays for the device you use, you confirm that you have their permission to use the App and incur related costs.

We recommend keeping your device's operating system up to date and avoiding modifications such as jailbreaking or rooting, which can compromise device security and interfere with the App's functionality.

The App is currently available on iOS and the web. We may release updates from time to time, and some updates may be required for continued use. We do not guarantee perpetual availability of the App; if we choose to discontinue it, your rights under these Terms will end and you must cease all use.

AI Analysis — Limitations and Disclaimers

Lucen uses artificial intelligence to analyze uploaded conversations and generate insights. These insights are produced by automated systems and should be treated as informational only — they are not a substitute for advice from licensed professionals in psychology, law, medicine, finance, or any other field.

No Warranties on AI Output. We do not warrant that any AI-generated analysis is accurate, complete, or suited to your particular situation. You should independently evaluate any insight before acting on it.

Limitation of Liability. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Lucen and its officers, directors, employees, affiliates, and service providers shall not be liable for any damages — whether direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, special, or punitive — arising from your reliance on AI-generated content, including but not limited to emotional distress, financial loss, reputational harm, or physical injury. This limitation applies regardless of the legal theory (contract, tort, negligence, strict liability, or otherwise) and whether or not we were aware of the possibility of such damages.

Your Responsibility. You acknowledge that all decisions made based on AI-generated insights are solely your own. Exercise independent judgment, and consult qualified professionals when circumstances warrant it.

Indemnification. You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Lucen and its affiliates, officers, directors, employees, and agents against any claims, liabilities, losses, costs, or expenses (including legal fees) that arise from your breach of these Terms or from how you use the App, including any reliance on or misuse of AI-generated content.

Content Standards

We expect all users to engage with the App in a manner that is respectful and lawful. The following types of content are strictly prohibited:

  • Material that is illegal or promotes illegal activity
  • Pornographic, obscene, or sexually explicit material
  • Content that glorifies or incites violence
  • Harassment, bullying, threats, or encouragement of such conduct
  • Unauthorized disclosure of another person's private or confidential information
  • Impersonation or misrepresentation of identity
  • Hate speech or content that discriminates on the basis of race, ethnicity, religion, gender, sexual orientation, disability, or any other protected characteristic
  • Spam, phishing, or fraudulent schemes

Consent Obligation. You must obtain consent from all parties whose conversations you upload. Failure to do so may result in immediate account termination and could expose you to legal liability.

Any illegal activity conducted through the App may result in a permanent ban and referral to the appropriate law enforcement agencies.

Account Suspension & Termination

We may suspend or permanently close your account at any time, with or without notice, if we reasonably believe you have violated these Terms, engaged in conduct harmful to other users or the platform, or for any other reason at our sole discretion. Technical measures such as IP blocking may also be employed.

Upon suspension or termination:

  • All rights granted to you under these Terms immediately cease.
  • You must stop using the App and delete it from your devices.
  • We may delete your account data and stored content.
  • You forfeit any remaining subscription time and are not entitled to a refund. Active subscriptions must still be canceled through Apple or Google to prevent further billing.

We may also, at our discretion, issue a warning, remove specific content, cancel your subscriptions, or share relevant information with law enforcement authorities.

Provisions of these Terms relating to intellectual property, limitation of liability, indemnification, and dispute resolution survive any termination.

Updates to These Terms

We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. When we make material changes, we will notify you through the App or by other reasonable means. Your continued use of the App after such notification constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
